Q: WHY CUSTOM INVITATIONS?
A: Your wedding invitations are the first thing people will see of your event and sometimes the only thing they get to see. You spend a lot of time planning out the details of the actual wedding and you should also take the same time and costs to create custom invitations for your guests. Probably the only thing they will have to remind them of your special day is the invitation. You get what you pay for and the extra cost of custom invitations that really reflect your personality and event style is priceless.
Q: HOW MUCH DO CUSTOM INVITATIONS COST?
A: Because no two invitations are alike, there is not a set price. There are many variables to take into account when quoting invitations: quantity desired, number of inserts, paper, envelopes, layers, pocketfolds, etc. At the very basic level, wedding invitation suites typically start at around $400 for Flat Printing, which is roughly $4 to $5 per set. This price is based on an order for 100 digitally printed invitation suites, which only include the invite, outer envelope, rsvp card and rsvp envelope. This does not include envelope liners, specialty papers, ink, pockets, special printing styles, ribbons, shipping, etc. We do our best to work within your budget and usually use that as a starting point to let you know what we can offer. Each invitation suite is completely custom and so is the pricing, which is why we provide you with a detailed estimate for your invitation suite based on our first meeting.
Q: DO YOU MAKE SAMPLES BEFORE I ORDER?
A: No. The cost and time it takes to print and order one sample is just too expensive. You will of course see digital proofs and mockups of your design and sign off on them before they are sent to print. This is also why we like to do a consultation. You can see our portfolio and the quality of our work. You will also be able to see paper type and colors chosen so there are no surprises.
Q: WHAT TYPE OF PAPER DO YOU USE?
A: The paper type for each invitation varies, since it depends on the invitation design and style. Many invitations and cards are printed on a smooth or textured thick card stock paper, available in white and soft cream, or a smooth pure white presentation paper. Envelopes are also available in a variety of colors and styles. There are a variety of options available.
Q: WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
A: Cash or Check. Personal check is the preferred method of payment.
Q: DO YOU OFFER INNER ENVELOPES?
A: Invitations are not quoted to include inner envelopes unless specified by the bride. Inner envelopes are typically a more formal option, and pocketfolds are quickly becoming their replacement these days. However, it's up to you. We'll discuss what you want in your invitation suite, and make a decision at our first meeting.
Q: I’M A BRIDE ON A BUDGET; CAN YOU STILL WORK WITH ME?
A: Of course! If you have a particular budget, just let us know and we'll do our best to try and work within it.
Q: WILL YOU PROVIDE WORDING FOR MY INVITATIONS?
A: We can direct you to some wedding invitation wording ideas; however, if you’d like something specific, we ask that you provide the exact wording. We can offer advice on what sounds best, and what would work well for a particular design.
Q: DO YOU PROOFREAD?
A: To a certain extent. We will try to catch any errors if at all possible. However, proofreading is ultimately your responsibility. Please, proof, proof, proof! We can’t stress enough the importance of making sure your invitations are error free before they go to print. Reprinting your invitations will be an additional fee if errors are discovered after production begins.
Q: WHEN SHOULD I MAIL MY INVITATIONS?
A: Save-the-Dates should be mailed at least 6 to 8 months prior to your wedding date, or up to a year for a destination location. Wedding Invitations should be mailed 6 to 8 weeks prior to your wedding date.
Q: DO YOUR INVITATIONS COME ASSEMBLED OR REQUIRE ME TO PUT THEM TOGETHER?
A: It depends on the style of your invitation, but many wedding invitation suites do require assembly. You have the option of doing them yourselves and we will provide the tools to do so, or we also offer all the production and assembly for an additional fee. This allows you to save money if you choose to do them yourselves. If you choose to have us assemble them, we promise it is worth the extra money you will save on time and stress.
Q: WHAT POSTAGE DO YOUR INVITES REQUIRE?
A: The postage really depends on the final invitation suite that you’ll be mailing to your guests. We are not responsible for purchasing postage or figuring out the cost of postage. However, typically (but not always) the pocket style or layered invitations with numerous insert cards will require a 2 oz. rate stamp. RSVP cards and envelope will need the 1 oz. rate stamp, but if you choose to do a postcard style then you will only need a postcard rate stamp which is less. You should ALWAYS take a finished invitation with all the inserts to your local post office to be weighed for the correct amount before you purchase postage and you mail all of your invitations.
